"When A Lover Leaves You" Remix Competition

In June 2007, Erasure offered fans the opportunity to download instrument & vocal loops for the Erasure song When A Lover Leaves You (taken from their album 'Light At The End Of The World') and use this to create their own remix.

Storm Chaser The 164Mb song download is available in Apple's GarageBand multi-track format. GarageBand is a music-making software application that comes with every Mac as part of its iLife suite of digital applications.

The remix competition has now closed, and the winning remix as chosen by the band was the Oscar Salguero Edit by Oscar Salguero, which was described by Vince Clarke as "Outstanding!!"

The mix was subsequently released on the Storm Chaser CD (and Digital Download) in September 2007.

Here are a few words from the winner himself:

"I really enjoyed the original track, and began to visualize how else it could be produced, with a different tempo, rhythms, what sounds to use and where to put them and what a fan would enjoy. Basically... what it takes to have another top 10 :)

That was my intention, to try and create a better track than what it was already. To judge the result, it's up to you! There were many good remixes out there.

I'm honoured at being chosen for this.
